This month, amidst all the chaos of Mean Girls, I found some spare time to crack open an old set of acrylic paints stored in our basement. It was a sweet stress relief to unwind and create again, starting out with a face outline of a face in yellow paint. I actually never used any green paint for the project at all since we were out… only mixing yellow, teal, and blue, and hints of white/black. It took a lot of blending using my brushes (and my fingers when I’d grow impatient.)
Some of the details in the artwork are added using metallic acrylic paint markers I own! They allowed for precise highlighting and added an element of shine. I painted it in an old sketchbook of plain paper, which I honestly prefer over a canvas, because I could get nice and detailed without too much texture or resistance.
I went back and forth between what expression I wanted to paint her with, but in the end I settled on a neutral, curious face, with the round eyes of a doe. I’m not much of a painter so I’m proud of how the piece came out! 🙂 And I think I’ll title it,”Aquamariana.”
