So many to choose from!

I often wonder, what is the first thing that comes to mind upon hearing the word, “Halloween?” Some say the costumes, others the decorations. However, there is one reason that trick-or-treaters often think about…the treats!

I sent out a poll to the students of Gateway and the local community to uncover their favorite treats this year. I was curious to see what sugary sweets everyone looks forward to receiving on Halloween night and to share what snacks will make your house all the rage this year. The poll ranged from rich chocolates to sour, jaw-clenching candy! Here are the top 10 most sought-after treats this Halloween:

In tenth place is Welch’s fruit snacks! Every single bite you take overflows your taste buds with a fruity sensation. There are five different flavors, strawberry, peach, orange, grape, and raspberry. Each one offers something different. Though it’s not really a candy, I’m still glad it made the list!

Cheese balls take ninth place! Such a crunchy cheesy delight! Again, not really a candy, but it has certainly been seen in many Halloween treat bowls!

In eighth place, we have Airheads! They come in a variety of flavors ranging from cherry to grape.

In seventh place, is Snickers! The Snickers bar has four mouth-watering layers of nougat, caramel, peanuts, and milk chocolate. Snickers are certainly a historical favorite.

In sixth place, we have Hershey’s bars! A good old-fashioned chocolate delight. You can’t go wrong with that! The cookies and cream counterpart is also to die for! Your house is sure to become a favorite stop if you offer full-sized bars.

In fifth place is M&M’s. A colorful, crunchy outer coating with rich chocolate inside. There are also plenty of versions to choose from, ranging from pretzel to caramel cold brew.

In fourth place are Kit-Kats! A creamy chocolate-covered wafer, you can’t get much better than that!

Reese’s peanut butter cups take third place. The chocolate outside is sweet and the peanut butter inside is salty. When combined, it’s a complimentary combination that most tastebuds savor.

In second place, we have Sour Patch Kids! They’re sour but then sweet! The watermelon and strawberry types are a must-try as well.

In first place, the most sought-after candy is Twix! With layers of cookie, caramel, and chocolate, there is no doubt that this well-loved candy made it to the ranks.

We want to hear your opinion! Fill out the poll below so we can find out your favorite Halloween treats!

Excellent article. Thank you to the author. We will be implementing the findings from this article when selecting our Halloween treats. Could I have more clarification on cheese balls. Is this referring to pirates booty?
