Mr. Coble ready to teach students about business and entrepreneurship!

Mr. Coble, one of Gateway’s ten new hires this school year, has already made a fantastic impression on students and staff alike! He is cheerful, passionate about teaching, and has already proven himself as a wonderful contribution to the Gateway community.

Mr. Coble teaches Business Finance Fundamentals at Gateway, as well as Introduction to Coding. He also co-teaches Business Fundamentals and Financial Literacy. He is primarily a high school teacher, but teaches Applied Digital Skills to our middle schoolers. Gateway, however, is not the only school Mr. Coble has taught at. He has been a teacher for four years, first at Mastery Charter in Camden and then at Burlington County Institute of Technology.

“Why business?” some may ask. Prior to becoming a teacher, Mr. Coble did taxes for a living. A friend of his asked him to host a workshop with him at a Philadelphia charter school, and while Mr. Coble wasn’t sure what to expect, he was pleasantly surprised! The kids had so many questions about taxes, real estate, becoming an entrepreneur, and more. He was still answering questions after the bell! This thrilled Mr. Coble, and it inspired him to host a permanent forum for all questions about finance and business, in a classroom!

Mr. Coble hasn’t always lived in New Jersey! He went to college in Illinois and worked and lived in Chicago for a while after graduation. Besides teaching, Mr. Coble is an avid music lover, plays the bass guitar, enjoys weight lifting, and listens to podcasts. His favorite podcasts include SpyCast, Swindled, and Hardcore History

Though Mr. Coble has only been a Gateway Gator for a couple of weeks, he has already managed to brighten the halls with his positive demeanor. When asked how he manages to remain so optimistic in the hustle and bustle of the school year, he responded, “Over time, I’ve learned that your mindset is everything. A positive outlook and a heart of gratitude will get you very far.”

Staying positive can be tricky, but Mr. Coble makes it look like a breeze.

A part of Mr. Coble’s upbeat personality is his humming! He can often be heard in the morning to the afternoon humming a cheery tune. We asked Mr. Coble if he has a favorite song he likes to hum, “When I’m humming I’m usually humming something random. But as far as favorite songs go, I am all over the place. It could be Pink Floyd, Prince, Tears For Fears, or Bad Bunny.”

His current songs on repeat are “Everybody Wants to Rule The World” by Tears For Fears and, “Jigsaw Falling Into Place,” by Radiohead.

We are so happy that Mr. Coble is having a great year so far!

He exclaims, “I LOVE it here so far!! Everyone, staff and students have been so friendly!”

Let’s keep making Mr. Coble feel welcome! If you see him in the hall or happen to stop by his room, 417, give him a smile and a wave!
