Have you seen an unfamiliar face in the hallway these past few months? Well, while Mrs. Karwoski is out on maternity leave, Milan Jevtitch has been here to fill in! He’s a knowledgeable, caring, and hardworking French man who is a student just like us.
When asked about his youth, Mr. Jevtitch says he, “Had a great and happy childhood with loving parents who put a priority on education and an emphasis on learning English and about other cultures.”
He would commonly visit his grandparents who lived in Beaugency, around 2 hours and 20 minutes away from France’s capital, Paris.
Growing up in France opened him up to unique opportunities in learning the English language. Because of their focus on education, his parents enrolled him in an exchange program in the UK. He was placed with a British family every summer from 6th to 11th grade. This is where he was able to learn English since he was continuously immersed in the English culture.
After high school, Mr. Jevtitch completed his undergraduate degree in Chemistry. He decided he wanted to receive his PhD and moved to America. He completed his education at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
He then moved to Cincinnati where he met his wife Bettina. They now have two kids, Anaïs and Soleil, who are both studying to receive their college degrees.
In his free time, he loves to, “Spend time with [his] family, bike, go on long walks with Wesley the German Shepherd, and travel.”
He especially enjoys traveling to Europe, his home, and other countries. He would love to go back to Thailand and the Philippines as well.
He decided to start teaching to change up his routine and do something for good. Currently, Mr. Jevtitch is studying at West Chester University to finish his degree. He and Bettina are living in Pennsylvania, so he travels back and forth between Gateway, school, and home.
He says he is, “Thankful and very fortunate that [he] could be onboarded by Mrs. Karwoski who is a fantastic teacher.”
We are thankful that he is here to teach our French students! As said by freshman Hazel Foster, “He is very knowledgeable about French, and he is always willing to help.”
We hope you all get the chance to talk to Mr. Jevtitch and learn more than just the French language from him! He is a very interesting and wise addition to the Gateway community!
Mr. Jevtitch, keep up the great work!
