This is Kelly, and on October 18th, she, like millions across both our country and beyond, came out to protest the Trump administration during the second No-Kings protest. More specifically, she, as well as myself, made up a part of the 15,000 protesters who showed up in Philadelphia.
There were many reasons why everyone showed up. Some people had a specific reason why they came out to protest, such as Donna, who said:
Others had more general reasons, or a mix of both. Kelly, who was previously mentioned, said one of the reasons she came out was because:
Starting at noon, the protest began as people started to gather around City Hall. Over the course of an hour, everyone arrived at City Hall, got fired up, maybe had some lunch, and overall got ready to start marching.
Then we were off marching down Market Street towards Independence Mall. To set the scene, just like the last No Kings Protest, this one was filled with signage, chants, and costumes. “Go Birds, F*** Trump,” was a common one. So was “This is what democracy looks like,” and “No Kings!”
The march ended at Independence Mall, where a wide array of orators spoke for around two hours, including several elected officials and union leaders. Overall, the protest was a huge success. All across the country, people’s voices were heard, and all protests remained peaceful with zero arrests.
