Each year, Gateway tries to find one senior student who represents all parts of Gateway. This student is involved in high academics, sports, theater or music, clubs, and maintains a positive attendance record. This year, Allison Eckstein was named Golden Gator!
Throughout her time at Gateway, Allison has been a part of as much as possible. She has been in all theater productions possible, played Girls Tennis, took AP classes, and more. Allison says that balancing all of her activities is hard, but she says one thing is really important:
“Communication is key.”
It’s vital that she communicates with directors, coaches, and teachers when she is overbooked. When you’re involved with all of these activities, there is no doubt there will be crossover.
Some days, Allison can be seen at Gateway from 7am to 9pm. She shares:
“Even if it is exhausting I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Allison finds the positive throughout her busy days. She says that all of her activities allowed her to learn new skills and make great friends. Not only has she learned how to communicate, but also how to manage time better, “some much needed study techniques,” and how to have a healthy caffeine addiction.
Over the years, theatre has brought her her closest friends and tennis added so much fun to her life. Although her life can be chaotic and stressful, she would never go back.
“At the end of the day the connections and friendships I make while being involved with all of this is something I wouldn’t trade for anything,” says Eckstein.
Congratulations Allison! We wish you the best of luck in the future!
