On Friday, December 13th, Gateway hosted its 13th annual Career Day! Over 50 presenters came and talked about their careers to the Gateway students who are in the midst of thinking about their future careers. But it wasn’t a piece of cake; a lot goes into making this day successful.
Mrs. Eckstein does quite a lot of work to pull off Career Day every year. After asking her a few questions about Career Day, this is what she had to say:
Going around to different classrooms and learning about different careers can be interesting to students. There were a few speakers that would interact with the students.
One junior, Emma, shared, “What I enjoyed most about Career Day is when the speakers bring in hands-on experience. Like the material scientist was gonna have us make batteries but sadly one of the materials wasn’t working so we didn’t get to do it but still a cool concept.”
Many students don’t really know what kind of career they want to pursue, so Career Day is a good time to listen and think about what you want to do. It may not be something that you saw in the classroom–it could be anything.
Overall, Career Day was yet another successful day here at Gateway!
